Wunderman Retains Lufthansa

Update: July 2, 2009–Lufthansa has appointed Wunderman UK to handle its digital and direct marketing business.  The agency will run all Lufthansa’s business-to-consumer and business-to-business communications in the UK, including their frequent flyer program, Miles & More, which currently has 16 million members.

FRANKFURT, May 26, 2009Lufthansa once again selected Wunderman as Agency of Record for its direct marketing Miles & More, and Lufthansa WorldShop business.  The decision came following Wunderman’s successful re-pitch of the business which Wunderman has had since 2001.  According to Lufthansa, Wunderman once again demonstrated its creative flair and in-depth knowledge of the market.  Other agencies involved in the pitch included:  Leo Brunett, Publicis and MRM (McCann Erickson).  The account win is a credit to Wunderman Germany’s continuing creative strength.  This year, the agency is ranked #2 in Germany by Deutscher Dialogmarketing Preis, moving up three slots from the prior year. In addition, in the D-A-CH region, Wunderman also ranks #2.

MUMBAI, May 19, 2009–Wunderman India has appointed Leroy Alvares as its new president. He will be based out of Mumbai and will report to Mahesh Chauhan, Group CEO, Rediffusion – Y&R.

Alvares comes in from Tribal DDB, India which he joined in 2006 as country head. He has earlier worked with iContract as the profit centre head for its Mumbai operations, before taking over from CVS Sharma at Tribal DDB. He spent six years at iContract, prior to which he was with Ogilvy India. (more…)

NEW YORK, May 18, 2009Enrique Yuste (President, Wunderman Latin America) and Jon Wade (Director of Digital Strategy, Wunderman U.K.) were elected to the Mobile Marketing Association’s (MMA) Board of Directors. The MMA is a global body that provides research, best practices, and it’s an outspoken advocate for the growth of the mobile channel.

In the U.S., Thom Kennon will represent Wunderman on an agency panel at the upcoming MMA’s Mobile Marketing Forum on June 2&3 at the Grand Hyatt in New York City.
